The normally well put together and careful mask that Entangledsnare wore was ebbing and she felt herself snarl in Tallwhiskers direction. How dare he even hint that she be anything less then a perfect mother to her own children. The fur on her heckles were starting to rise in irritation, but before she could retaliate - Rookbriar spoke up. A good thing he did too. The life of her children was very important to her, and she would not let it ever come across otherwise. If Crispkit had been closer to her in this moment, she likely would've put on some show as to how protective she could be. But the kitten was too far, and she was lacking in energy to put in that much effort.
As the softer spoken tom let his own fuse run short, she gave him a small nod in respect. It took a lot for one to speak their mind so openly - but then again, starve any creature and their true colours will shine. Then again this was a kind of stress most of them weren't used to living. Little prey in Leaf-Bare, sure. But nothing like this. Not having no shelter or set home, having to look over shoulders constantly. This was no life to lead, and they could only prey that Starclan would show them the end of this torment soon.
Her chest puffed out ever so slightly as cats jumped in to her aid. At least some cats had the decency to care for their Queens still. Unlike some who forgot who helped keep the life of the clans flourishing. Her littler would be the stars of the next generation, and she couldn't wait to see what kind of outstanding warriors they became. However that day would have to wait. There was no way she would bring their small lives to fruition under these conditions. She would fight and suffer every breath just to make sure that they arrived once they were all safe and sound. Starclan knows she was preying she could hold out long enough.
Still uneasy about the mention of how fleeting her own life was, Crispkit continued to hide where she was. She needed not remember her earliest memories of the fire, and the panic and fear. For someone so young she was taunted by these vivid memories in her dreams. She knew she wasn't cared for like her deceased brothers were, but that wasn't going to stop her from trying her best. But for now, she just wanted to eat and rest like everyone else - and hopefully the older cats wouldn't be as hostile towards one another anymore.
