The past moon had been a blur. She was there, she had continued the journey but she felt so hollow and alone. Dessertrose came from a large family, one that cared deeply for her, but she couldn't shake this feeling of loneliness. She had bee with her partner for many moons and couldn't imagine a day without him, and thought she had now spent many days without him, she couldn't remember what really happened in said days. She had carried on for her two dear children, Cactuspaw and Tumblepaw. Even now as he belly continued to swell, she did not feel like any of it was real. There was no way Umbernight was really gone. He won the fight, he was just gone hunting. He would be back soon.
No matter how hard she tired, she couldn't stop the sadness that swelled up heart, the denial was strong and she longed for his warmth, his smile, his voice, him. A shaky breath escaped the queen as she was lost on her own world. She was sheltered under some trees, lost in her own world. With the snow covering the grey's of her coat, one might mistake her for a snow mound if not for her piercing yellow eyes. They gleamed with a haunting memory of what she longed for. Soon the last remnants of her late mate would arrive, and she would have more kits to care for, but this time she would be doing it all alone.
