Wandering without permission, as she often did, Poppy was far from where her.. captors made their home in the ruin of an old building of sorts. It was suffocating, being under their watch for what seemed like eternity. She was so thankful for her father figure for teaching her how to care for herself, but some part of her was resentful that no one did anything to help her in other ways. Now, with the cold weather setting in, she was determined to shake the ever growing restlessness within her and break whatever rules it was that they had used to shackle her.
There was a light snowfall, nothing that would obstruct her vision, but still she couldn't help the feeling that there was someone nearby. A presence, something that seemed to call out to her, was close, and she couldn't quite shake the feeling. She hid herself well in the underbrush, her maw open slightly to try and detect any scent of who or what may be lurking.

He had been tracking her for some time, watching the young she-cat slip away from the broken down ruin. It had been for sport at first, just checking that his skills were still what he was known for, but watching the ginger dappled wraith slip away from those who held her captive had caught his interest. She had to be smart to get away from a legion like that, he mused. That's what kept him going after her, his curiosity. When the wind blew, drawing her scent to him, he was surprised to find the power he felt in her essence. That and the scent of green-leaf, that of the pale melons he had come across and loved. Honeydew.
Keeping to the shadows, Hawk crept along her path, keeping out of sight and downwind of the peculiar she-cat. He noted every breath and pawstep, locking her sweet scent in his mind. Every step away she took drew him even further towards her. There was this regal air about her that she carried but didn't show. Already the derogatory terms coming to mind brought a smirk to his maw, long teeth glinting in the light of the snow. There was something about her that Hawk knew she would hate him calling her anything but a she-cat.
Noting that the wind had shifted against him, he saw the small she-cat stutter in her steps and knew it was time to make his grand reveal. Working around her the best he could, Hawk stepped out from the shadows and drawled, "Hello Princess."

man the challenge of writing these two appropriately will be fun ehehhe
The she-cat was close to convincing herself she was just being paranoid when she sensed the shift around her. A moment before he revealed himself she whipped her head in his direction, quickly schooling her features to hide any sort of shock that might give him a hint that she had only recently discovered his presence.
His scent of pine and smoke seemed to completely envelop her, the only thing filling her nostrils as she tried to take a deep breath to clear it away. Everything about him screamed power, and it seemed to cause her insides to sing in response, as if this meeting was fated. However, as soon as his first words left his mouth, she narrowed her eyes in irritation.
With fire in her eyes, she gave a small hiss, showing the slightest of her fangs that weren’t nearly as prominent as his. “Don’t call me that,” she added, her voice smooth but full of her pent up anger. Princess? She was no such thing.

bro i know, it's going to be so fun
A fiery amusement coursed through Hawk as the she-cat bared her teeth, sizing him up. He was double her size at least, yet she had stood her ground. His honey gaze traced over her mottled pelt, enjoying the red and thickness of her fur. He saw the scars but did not let his eyes settle on them, only taking a mental note. What horrors she had to endure to have those scars, those beautiful scars. It only made her face even more interesting, more beautiful. Hawk knew then that this was no ordinary she-cat, and the way she had reacted to his taunt just sent his blood rushing higher.
"You carry yourself like someone of importance, so why else shouldn't I call you Princess?" he asked, cocking his head to the side. He knew in the snowy light his fangs were on display, curling his lip in a playful smile to make them even more pronounced. The snow settled on his broad black back but didn't seem to melt. He took a long step closer, the muscles rolling over his shoulders as he did so, lowering his head. His honey eyes narrowed slightly, suddenly alight with a playful warmth.
"You escaped from that privy of a group with haste, you must be someone of some importance." The taunt still lingered in his eyes, dancing on his tongue as he prowled closer, tail flicking leisurely behind him. Now Hawk stood within a few steps from her, his pitch coat covered in white speckles and a grin on his maw. Parting his jaws, he drank in her scent once more and almost let out a purr at the decadence of it.

Her emerald gaze tracked him the entire time that he slowly made his way closer, but she didn't let it deter her or send her stepping away. He had obviously been watching her for some time if he knew about the group back at the ruins. She mentally cursed herself for not detecting him sooner, for she could be dead by now if he would have chosen to attack while she was distracted.
Still, there was something enthralling about the ebony tom as he shortened the distance between them. Not many cats dared to get close to her; she was the Chosen. She was to remain pure, untouched, and mostly unseen by all of those around her. She wasn't nervous, but was still very unused to the proximity. Not letting it show, she lashed a paw towards him when he started to get too close for comfort. Her claws were extended, but they didn't meet flesh. Her tail flashed back and forth as a warning.
"If you've been watching that closely then you think you would know who I am," she countered, a taunting grin of her own playing upon her own maw. "You must love stalking she-cats through the woods."

Oh he knew what she was and was wanted for, that made his curiosity all the more. She was a she-cat know for her strong will and bloodline, needing to bring an even more powerful bloodline into the world.Yet there was something about her, her stance and the light in her eyes that Hawk knew this was not the path that she had chosen for herself. There was s small, special part of himself that felt sorry for her and the life she was borne into. But it was that stronger part of her that kept drawing him in. Her scent was ecstasy, wrapping around his mind with a power that even he didn't know.
It was that small paw coming towards him that caused Hawks smile to grow, one of pure pleasure that offered a promise. "Swiping at me already?" he purred, brow arched and tail flicking. "What a wonderful, murderous little creature you are." Taking another step forward, he made sure that his form was backed by the moonlight, making his midnight pelt glow in an otherworldly light. "I love stalking seemingly helpless princess's through the night, only yo see the warrior that they are underneath."

this will be the death of me eheheheh
Poppy felt almost as if she was a dessert to his eye, the way that he seemed to drink in not only her scent but her mere presence as well. There was something about him that almost made him seem familiar, but she couldn't quite place it. With the moonlight to his back, she couldn't help but let her eyes rake his frame. His shoulders were broad, and he was nearly double her size, and the glint of the moon accentuated how well built he was under his midnight coat. He was no mere cat, either, it seemed.
His words seemed to spark some sort of warmth in her chest. No one had ever spoken of her in such a way, and it almost - almost made her smirk. Poppy didn't feel as if her life was in danger, even if the tom was intimidating and very much within her personal bubble that no one other than those who punished her dared to cross. Not wanting to give him the satisfaction of attacking, she sat down, her movements regal and well practice, wrapping her fluffy copper tail over her paws.
"Who are you, then?" She asked, eyes focused on him with an air of curiosity that was continuously growing through out the encounter.

The way she held her ground, sitting down and almost seeming to hold court floored the dark tom. A wicked amusement swept through him, sending fire rushing through his blood and claws curling into the snowy ground underpaw. A part of his soul sang, this is it, this is it! The steel of her spine and strength in her eyes sent him reeling. This was no ordinary she-cat, but he knew that from the start. He just didn't realize how much it would entail.
With a grace that only well trained warriors possessed, Hawk rolled back onto his haunches with a grin and a dip of his head. "The Dark One they call me," he drawled, holding up a paw to clean but letting his claws show. "But my friends call me Hawk." Drawing his tongue across a knuckle, he flicked his honey eyes back up to hers, a challenge still in their depths. He was enjoying this game much more than he should. There were those that wanted her dead, and he had been the one to take that contract. Yet here he was, flirting with the enemy, and enjoying every moment of it.

It took all of her willpower to keep her expression neutral, keeping her eyes narrowed rather than widening as they should have at his admission. She had heard tales of 'The Dark One,' how dangerous he was, and how he was sure to be after her at some point. The wicked deeds he had committed to earn him such a name had haunted her dreams more than once.
"Am I supposed to be impressed?" Poppy asked, using her iron will to lock down her façade of confidence and ignorance. While she was very capable of defending herself against most opponents, this might be something else entirely. The game had changed, and she didn't know what to do about it other than try and get out alive.

[ okay finally done with all the wedding stuff and work rip ]
"Impressed," he drawled, taking a leisurely step forward, "Intrigued, it's all up to you." He watched the ginger she-cat stiffen, seeing that mask fall into place. It only made him more excited, heat rolling through his veins. The challenge, the chase, wht was it now driving him towards her? The defiant look in her eyes just made it all the more sweet. "Am I supposed to be impressed, Princess?"

Her eyes flashed as the large ebony tom moved even closer, causing her muscles to tense in anticipation, but she refused to retreat even the smallest step. Instead, once he was within reach and very much pushing her personal boundaries, she swiped out quickly with a paw, catching him on the very edge of his jaw with her claws in challenge. "Something like that," she added with a haughty growl.
