The warmth from the sun was like a comforting hug, shielding against the chill in the air. She was safe in its protective embrace. Whenever the thought of leaving popped into her mind, it was swept away like a wave, pushing her back into her safe haven. There were scary things around her, but if she stayed here, she wouldn't have to deal with them. She could be nice and warm and cozy and -
Splish!
Cuddlycloud's eyes shot open, her warmth fleeing her just as quickly as the water had splashed all over her. Just barely, she had caught the glimpse of a fish landing back in the water beside her. The culprit! She slashed her paw out as quickly as she could to swat at it, but her 'quickly' was the equivalent of anyone else's 'mediocre', and all she succeeded in doing was slapping the water next to her, throwing more water around her. The cold was beginning to set in, and finally Cuddlycloud looked around. She had been asleep on a small rock in a river, the sun still directly above her. Suddenly, realization set in. "Who put me here?" she whispered. Hadn't she been in the middle of hunting? How did she get here?

It was one of the nicer winter days, the sun was out and the warmth that radiated off it was enough to overshadow the blistering cold that was threatening all of the life down here. Lost in her own train of though her eyes glued on the skies she couldn't help but imagine how much warmer it would be when the unforgiving leaf-bare finally came to an end. It would only make the warmth feel that much sweeter knowing they survived such a brutal season. Her sandy coloured paws carried her through the bite of the snow, aimlessly wandering at this point. Mostly she was hoping that the taunting scent of prey would pull her from her wandering, but it was something else.
The sudden rustling and the roar of the water was what pulled her from the trance. Her eyes blinking a few time as they adjusted to their surrounding after having been transfixed with the sky. It took her a moment to notice that the form in the water wasn't a rock - or more accurately, it was a rock, but with a cat on it. Approaching the edge of the water her tail flicked curiously, "Whatever are you doing out there?"

Cuddlycloud stumbled to her paws the moment she realized that she was most definitely not in the middle of hunting, and nearly toppled over into the river. Luckily, she had managed to find her grip again on the slippery rock. Her fluffy white and grey coat drooped with wetness, and she had already begun shivering slightly. Oh, how she missed the warmth that she left behind in her dream.
Whatever are you doing out there?
Her gaze shot to the shore, and she scanned the foreign terrain for the source of the voice. None of her surroundings seemed familiar at all anymore, and a fear settled into her heart momentarily - how was she going to find her way back? Her worry was forgotten almost immediately, however, as she finally looked closer to the edge of the water and found the cat that spoke to her.
"I don't know," she replied, voice trembling. Her gaze was wide and fearful, seemingly holding a silent plea, yet was surprisingly more steady than her voice.

The brown she-cat felt her whiskers twitch with anxiety as she watched the others cats growing distress. Tired as the rest of them, her thinking skills were definitely behind and she felt herself freeze in place. Maybe she could swim out there, but did she have the strength in her to swim back, let alone with another body - one she was uncertain if they knew how to swim or not. Her paw lifted and set as she continued to doubt herself, Quickly glancing around to see if there was another able body to help them out here.
Before Tsunamibeach could really do or say anything, a large white tom stumbled through the bushes, cursing as a small mouse went shooting into a hole near the river. Hearing the commotion he looked over and saw the scene. Verdantdusk was by no means a swimmer, but when he saw the delicate she-cat stranded and clearly frightened he could feel his chest huff. He might live to regret this, but now wasn't the time to turn your backs on one another. Taking a deep breath he got a running start and jumped into the river, fighting against the absolutely fridged water that bite at him as he finally closed in on the rock in question. Dragging himself up on the rock to join Cuddlycloud he let out a shaky breath,
"C'mon, let me assist you back, once your on land you'll feel much better.." he muttered, the cold reaching his voice with a nearly missable shiver. The rock didn't have a lot of space, and he was much closer to the she-cat then he would've liked to have been, but if it offered her even the slightest comfort, then it would make getting them both to the shore that much better.
