Upon seeing Myrtlewing when she approached, Stonefang suddenly felt guilty for eating when others with their group needed food more than he did. After swallowing his third bite of food, he picked up his half eaten portion of rabbit and carried over to where the queen sat.
"Here Myrtlewing," he mewed sounding somewhat apologetic as he placed the portion of food on the ground in front of her. "I've eaten enough. You can have the rest. Go on, it's really good. You need this more than I do."

The young Queen purred at Stonefang’s apologetic tone and shook her head, “Most of the Queens and kits have been fed today, since you have been doing so well. Harewind and Driftfall have been taking care of me.” Her heart grew heavy at the thought of her brothers. They had been having a much harder time getting along after Tigerdusk had died.
Myrtlewing’s eyes were gentle, gazing at the gray tabby, and her eyes blinked slowly, “How has hunting been for you all? Good enough for you to eat as well, I hope.” Myrtlewing reminisced. It had been almost two moons since she had been able to hunt, and her legs itched to run freely again.

"Hunting has been the best it can be," Coastcurl said around her mouthful, a grin curling up her lips. Swallowing, she dipped her head to the queen and said, "Thank you for keeping up with this lot. I can't imagine having kits, let alone keeping up with those that aren't yours."
Turning her head towards the little den's entrance, she narrowed her eyes against the few flurries that had blown their way in.
"A few days ago I had scouted around the area and found somewhere that might make a temporary home until leaf-bare ends, but my gut still drives me to keep going. This camp won't be our last stop, but it'll make due until the snow has passed." She had never asserted herself as the leader, but there had yet to be anyone to dispute her. Coastcurl turned her stormy gaze to each of the cats gathered, a question in her eyes. Would they or wouldn't they?

Myrtlewing nodded respectfully to Coastcurl. She always had been, like many others, enchanted by Coastcurl’s charisma, and she trusted her with her life. “I think whatever you decide will be the best option we have. StarClan favors you, as you have led us guardedly thus far,” she meowed soothingly. “Knowing that you are leading us gives me hope that my kits, the kits that are not my own, have bright futures.” Myrtlewing hoped that her words would ease the she-cat’s worry.
She turned her pale blue eyes unto Stonefang, her gaze softening, and she looked like she wanted him to add to her heartening words.

"Yes," Stonefang agreed. "Coastcurl is a strong, good leader. I'm glad she's leading our group to a new land." He looked around at the cold winter landscape and sighed. " I just hope we can find our new home soon. Being on the move in this weather is especially hard for the very young and the very old." His eyes fell back upon Myrtlewing and he added, "And for queens too."

Myrtlewing shared the anxiety of the gray warrior. The cold of leaf-bare would make the journey difficult for her newly born kits. She had a couple more sunrises to go before they came, but they would be within the iciness of the season at its strongest. She could not cope with the death of her kits on top of the one that fathered them.
The young Queen looked again into Stonefang’s eyes and meowed convincingly, trying to dislodge whatever doubts came, “Everything will be okay. The young and old will be well-cared for, as they have great warriors and Queens taking care of them, along with StarClan and Coastcurl leading the way. For as long as we have hope- I’m sure this leaf-bare will pass like any other.” Myrtlewing tried to believe her words, but much fear plagued her spirit and taunted her with the possible difficulties traveling would bring. She glanced at Silverkit, a she-cat who would have such a long, happy life if they made it where StarClan wanted them, and it gave her hope.

Stonefang's heart went out to Myrtlewing. It looked like she was expecting any day now but yet she still had a positive attitude. This trip was hard for any cat let alone an expectant queen. Would we stop traveling when her kits arrive? he wondered, casting a quick glance at Coastcurl.
With his hunger now sated, he fluffed up a pile of leaves that were under the bush where they had gathered. Laying down, he motioned with his tail to Myrtlewing. "If you want, you can lay next to me tonight. It is awfully cold and we can both use the warmth."

She stared at him for a moment with an unreadable expression. Myrtlewing had been exhausted since staying up after looking for Silverkit. Myrtlewing purred softly, “Thank you for your offer. I think I’ll take you up on it.” She curled up alongside Stonefang and laid her head on her forepaws. Her light bluish-gray fur bristled in slight embarrassment, but it was short lived.
Myrtlewing’s eyes quickly fluttered closed as if the sudden warmth and rest to her paws beckoned her to sleep.

Coastcurl had merely dipped her head at the praise of her Clanmates, not feeling worthy of their loyalty. She was nothing but a headstrong young cat, yet they still saw something in her. There was a surge of panic in her chest, her heartbeat racing as she realized what was now sitting on her shoulders. The Clan she might create and the territory that could become hers. Her claws curled into the cold ground underpaw for a moment, eyes closing as she controlled her breath.
Opening her eyes, she looked at warrior connected to queen connected to kit. This is what being in a Clan was about. A small smile tugged at the edge of her lips, watching them curl up together. Turning her gaze to the warriors around her, she murmured softly, "Tomorrow we move to the cave so that Myrtlewing can give birth in peace and we have a good shelter for the rest of the winter. Once the snow burns off, and the kits are able to travel, we keep going."

Stonefang was pleased the queen took up his offer. Her warmth was very welcome to him as he was sure his was to her. Despite the cold, he hadn't felt this comfortable for a long time. When he heard Coastcurl speak he raised his head to listen.
Such good news! They were going to stay in one place at least for a while. Perhaps if the land was suitable it might become their permanent home. At least that's what he hoped. But even if they did continue to travel, he was okay with that. Maybe the weather would be warmer and not so harsh. "Did you hear that?" he asked Myrtlewing. "You'll have a good place to birth your kits and get them started."

Myrtlewing softly purred as if giving her answer though being asleep. Her nose tucked underneath her tail, she murmured, “Mhm.” Myrtlewing did not stir again, having lost to her desire for sleep.
The cold had vanished, and she could finally rest easy.

The faint sound of falling snow woke the stormy grey she-cat, drawing her from the warmth of the bodies that had surrounded her. After Myrtlywing had fallen asleep, the rest of the group had settled down in an understanding of what they day to follow was. Coastcurl would never forget what the cats had vowed to her, how they trusted her to lead them to a home.
Creeping out from the warmth, she crept out of the den and into the snowy forest beyond. Sweeping away a small patch of snow with a paw, she sat on the cold ground and curled her tail over her paws, looked in the direction of which they would travel. She knew in her heart this is now where they would stay, her heart yearned for open air and crashing waters; the scent on salt on the air still drew her west. But she knew they needed a small stop before the final home.
Looking up, Coastcurl saw the black bleed to reds and oranges, watching the stars wink out as the dawn greeted them. Today was they day they would move. Looking down at her paws, she let out a long sigh, drawing in a deep breath as if to steady herself for what was to come.

Myrtlewing felt simple happiness at her growing leaf pile. She remembered having done this a lot as a kit, but she wasn’t sure why she was doing it now. The leaves in front of her were countless, and she stared at them, frost numbing the pads of her paws. As a cold, strong wind ran through her fur, Myrtlewing gasped as her leaves scattered and flew away. Only four remained. It was usual that they looked so healthy for the late leaf-bare season, making her wonder. She stepped forward, and the first leaf turned dark red, making her flinch. The second was ripped to shreds, while the final two turned a paler green.
Frightened, Myrtlewing stepped back. She did not understand why the plants behaved as they were but thought she must’ve been dreaming. She tried to wake up from whatever weird dream had stolen her but could only hear the sound of rushing water and the horrible smell of blood.
Myrtlewing woke to the snow already stacking itself onto her pelt, and she shook it off while trying not to wake the sleeping cats next to her. For a moment, she felt surprised to see Stonefang so near to where she slept until she remembered the offer of warmth he had given her. Savoring the comfort briefly, she unwillingly moved from the gray tabby, trying not to stir him into consciousness. Once free, Myrtlewing noticed a storm gray she-cat. Coastcurl had been sitting there, watching the birth of a new dawn, and she padded towards her, shaking off her disturbance by her dream, “Good morning, Coastcurl. You’ve picked a rather stunning view to start your day. Would you mind if I joined you?”

An ear twitched back as Coastcurl heard movement, the wind bringing the sweet scent of a queen towards her. She didn't turn her head though, just kept gazing at the horizon as Myrtlewing made her way towards the stormy-furred she-cat. A small smile curled up her lips as she heard the queen give a small huff as she sat down next to Coastcurl; her belly was quite large, Coastcurl couldn't imagine carrying kits for that long.
"You're more than welcome," she replied, finally turning her blue gaze towards Myrtlewing. "And thank you for trusting me. Especially in your condition, I don't know if I would be strong enough to do what you are willing to." And she meant that. This queen was rearing and ready to go to get to somewhere that could be a temporary home, just to have a safe place for her kits. Even if it meant pushing her body to the limits and relying on others.
"How are you feeling this morning? I cant catch something for you real quick before we set off?" Coastcurls offer was genuine, she honestly wanted to make sure the queen was alright. Afterall, this litter could be part of the start of a new Clan.

Myrtlewing felt much relief at Coastcurl’s warm welcome. Coastcurl was a seemingly unstoppable she-cat. Even though the wind tugged at her fur the way it had in her dream, she no longer smelled the stench of blood. Myrtlewing was surprised to see that the she-cat whom everycat admired was so unsuspecting of their unwavering faith. The storm-gray she-cat’s fur was nearly turning gold from the rising sun, and Myrtlewing blinked in reflex at seeing such bright light. “I am not worthy of such words of praise that you’ve given me- I have only put my faith in what I know to be true. The truth is that you are an extraordinary cat. One who tries her hardest to ensure there is a bright future for every cat in reach,” Myrtlewing purred proudly, gazing at the blazing sun and all its colors as if seeing Coastcurl’s strengths within it.
She continued, turning to look at the storm-gray she-cat with absolute sincerity in her pale blue eyes, “We know that you aren’t perfect, as it is unfair to expect anycat to be, but I believe that is what truly matters. You’ve overcome the flaws we are all born with and have helped many, including me. You saved us when the Wraiths took us from our homes. You gave us new hope for a better future. That, I believe, is what beauty is.” Myrtlewing could only imagine the loneliness that plagued the she-cat’s position, and for Coastcurl to be worried about her was heart-wrenching. Myrtlewing bumped her head against Coastcurl’s pelt, meowing softly, “I am fine. There is no need to worry about me.”
